Women in James Cameron's Films

Brief Outline of my Extended Project
My extended project will be exploring the representation of women in James Cameron’s films from the mid 1980’s to 2009, focusing on films such as ‘Aliens’ and the Highest Grossing film of all time, ‘Avatar’. My extended project will aim to highlight that James Cameron’s films slightly changed how women are portrayed as he challenges the gender stereotypes of women’s role in movies for example the iconic, seminal and influential role of ‘Ellen Ripley’ in Aliens (1986), who was essentially one of the first female character that ‘isn’t defined by the men around her, or by her relationship with them’ (Entertainment Weekly)
